successfully unclogged the toilet!

My friends; I have never thought I would write about such a topic here. But it was a big deal for me, I am excited to resolved it and gained confidence that next time I can do it again, and well, you are nice and kind folks who would understand..

I clogged my toiled this morning. It is not the first time but the previous ones I could resolve by just pouring down water several times using a bucket. It stresses me each time as the house is 90 years old, my city is also old, and who knows how the plumbing system is. Certainly the worst thing I think about is the toilet over-flowing and ruining everywhere. The sight of clogged toilet is gross, but honestly it can be stomached way easier than having the entire floor or the living room being infested with the toiled mess..

So, a few months back I had bought a plunger. I used it today for the first time. It turns out I was lucky because  I have had the right plunger, not the sink/drain plunger (their shapes are different; see here. I did not even know the difference before today). Yay!

I watched a number of youtube videos first to get an idea. Looks like there are some important details to consider (like it is essential to have some level of water in the toilet bowl prior to start pumping. And be gentle with the pumping..).

I was scared, stressed, and at the beginning it did not work out, but 30 secs later, voila! all gone. And I am happy. And relieved. And all I have to do now is to disinfect the toilet – not a problem at all!!!

  2. Congratulations! You should be proud. Living is an older house has its challenges. The more little maintenance things you can do yourself, the better. (And the more savings you will have.)
