The handymen registry

All right – I got it; the contractors are busy doing big renovations/repairs and thus will not show interest in little jobs.

BUT, there are so many people around, myself included, who have no idea about how to take care of  little things around the house, such as staining the deck, caulking around the windows, painting the window trims, changing an electrical plug, replacing a small area of plaster or a weather strip.

Would it not be useful that there were companies/registry who employ/list handymen just to do this kind of stuff for those in desperate need? It does not need to be a full-time position; those who are knowledgeable about this kind of work could even work only occasionally.

Just a thought.
